Frequently Asked Questions for Spring 2025 Season

  • How long is registration open for the Spring 2025 season?

    • Registration opens Wednesday, January 1st, 2025 and will close Friday, March 14th 2025.

    • We often keep registration open after the initial close date, however, if you are not registered by Friday, February 21st, 2025, you will miss out on the preseason clinic.

    • Our rosters are due to the AYL by February 20th.

    • The sooner all players are registered the sooner we can disseminate information on coach and team assignments and practice schedules.

    • Our teams fill up extremely fast. We strongly recommend you register immediately.

    • You are only considered registered if you have completed the registration process, your player’s USA Lacrosse membership is up to date (through at least May 31, 2025, and the registration fee is paid in full.)

  • What is the registration fee for the Spring 2025 season?

    • The registration fee is the same as last year, $375 if completed by February 1st. Registration received after February 1st is $425. All registration fees are tax deductible as we are a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit organization. Please register early!

    • The registration fee does not include the cost of uniforms. You will be directed to our supplier’s website to size and purchase your required uniform (jersey, shorts). There are additional items available for purchase as well. All items will be delivered to your home in about 10 business days.

    • The uniform design is the same as last year, so if you have a well-fitting full kit, you do not need to purchase a new one.

    • We will have a sizing night to ensure proper fitting uniforms, there were a few that were too small last year. Please reach out if unsure on sizing. Jerseys must fit over pads.

    • Registration fee covers the costs associated with team and program equipment purchases (including balls, cones, practice equipment, League registration fees, end-of-year tourney entry Tournament entry fees, referee payments, field permits, coaching and coaching education expenditures, and other Administration costs.)

  • What league do the Jets play in?

  • What ages/grades do you have teams for?

    • Jets lacrosse offers competitive spring teams for players in first through eighth grades. Occasionally, we do allow kindergarteners to play on a first grade team if there is space. Players of all experience (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) are welcome to register.

  • When does the season start and how long does it go?

    • We will hold preseason clinics on weekends in February and early March (days/times TBD)

    • The season will conclude with the AYL tournament (tentatively) the weekend of May 18th, 2025. It is a single-elimination format.

    • Each team will play on only one of the dates (Saturday or Sunday) the weekend of the end of season tournament. We do not know the schedule for this tournament until it is released by the AYL (usually sometime in April). We recommend you make sure your player is available for both days.

    • Some teams will choose to participate in additional tournaments that take place before or after the regular season has concluded. Participation in additional tournaments is determined on a team-by-team basis and additional costs apply.

  • What is the “Notice of Play” (N.O.P.)?

    • The Notice of Play, or N.O.P., is a document submitted by Jets Admin to the AYL for each team participating in the AYL spring league.

    • It is due on February 20th and outlines each team’s roster as well as availability for games, mostly in regards to March and spring break.

    • It is extremely important that families let us know if they will be available to play in March and over spring break (DPS is Saturday, March 22nd-Sunday March 30th).

    • This ensures we can field full teams, or request to start the game schedule later.

    • ONLY teams who can play in March are guaranteed 8 games. Teams that do not play in March may not have weather cancellations rescheduled.

    • Teams without enough players available in March might start their game schedule in April. This is on a case-by-case basis.

    • We strongly suggest keeping ALL Saturdays in March open.

  • How are spring teams formed?

    • Teams are formed based on current grade level. We generally have at least 1 team per grade, although some may have more than 1. In the case there is more than 1 team per grade, coaches, parents, and directors will assess skill level and divide athletes based on best fit.

    • Our primary goal is to place each player on a team that provides them the best opportunity to develop and succeed as a lacrosse player as well as continue to develop a passion for the game. We make every effort to place each player on the most appropriate team and at the most appropriate competitive level within the League. This is based on many factors including, but not limited to, prior performance, skill, experience, practice attendance, team availability and manageable roster sizes.

    • If you are a new player to the Jets we may reach out to you to collect relevant information that will help us place your son on the most appropriate Team.

    • Depending on team size, coach availability, and registration numbers, it is possible we may need to wait list some registrants. Returning players are given preference if we must place your player on a waitlist, we will notify you as soon as possible.

    • Players are not guaranteed to be on the same team from year to year.

    • We cannot consider any special requests for team placement for example friends family members neighbors classmates carpools practice locations coaches Etc.)

    • We may consider a parent or player requests for players to play up or “play down” in certain situations, but never to gain a competitive advantage.

  • How are players/teams placed in divisions?

    • Per AYL rules, teams are based on grade, with a corresponding age cut off.

    • For the spring 2025 season, the 1st through 3rd grade divisions play 7 vs. 7 on a short size field. All other divisions play 10 vs 10 on a regular sized field.

    • All current 8th graders are eligible to play, regardless of date of birth.

    • Players in high school (9th grader higher) are not eligible to play.

  • What is the game schedule?

    • Games will start as early as March 15th, and there may be games scheduled over spring break! You must indicate your availability for games in March in your registration to ensure proper scheduling.

    • Games are played primarily on Saturdays, although certain scheduling issues may require Sunday play. Some weekends may include a doubleheader. Games rescheduled due to inclement weather are generally scheduled for Sundays.

    • The AYL will publish the final team specific game schedule the week of March 3rd and it will be posted to our app, website, and emailed to parents at that time. As soon as we have the final schedule we will let you know!

    • We do not consider any request for players and / or teams to play on specific days or times. The Jets do not have any control over the creation of the schedule, it is set by the AYL.

    • Note, this season there are no games over Memorial Day Weekend.

  • Where are the Jets lacrosse games played?

    • The AYL has a new method of scheduling games. We will have 10 games scheduled, with 8 guaranteed. If we have inclement weather, games are cancelled, unless we are below the 8 game mark, in which case they will be rescheduled.

    • All home games are located at North Sports Field, in Central Park (10085 E 57th Ave, Denver, CO 80238) It is possible to play home games at alternate location sites if needed.

    • All Jets teams will travel for away games to locations around Colorado such as Lakewood, Boulder, Colorado Springs, Denver, Fort Collins, Evergreen, Pueblo, Golden, Loveland, Aurora, and Windsor.

  • When and where do Jets team's practice?

    • Subject to field availability, head coaches will determine practice days and times for their teams. As soon as the teams are formulated we will let you know what each team's respective practice schedule is.

    • Early season practices are tentatively scheduled as follows:

      • Sunday, February 23rd- Preseason Clinic

      • Sunday, March 2nd- First regular season practice

    • Teams will generally practice two or three times per week from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. prior to Daylight Savings day and 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. after Daylight Savings.

    • Some teams will practice and play games over Denver public school spring break (March 27th through April 3rd). This is determined on a team-by-team basis.

    • We do not consider a request for a player to practice at a specific time and/or location.

  • When will we receive information about which team or player is on?

    • We will provide additional information on team rosters and practice schedules and locations to parents at our early season practices (Feb 23rd, Mar 2nd, Mar 9th) and through our app. Practice schedule is determined on a team-by-team basis.

    • Coaches will contact their teams as soon as rosters are finalized.

  • What equipment is each player required to have?

    • All players are required to provide their own personal equipment – lacrosse stick, helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, cup, and mouthpiece.

    • Loaner equipment may be available, please reach out if you need anything!

    • Cleats are not required, however, we strongly recommend your player wear cleats to all practices and games.

    • See our equipment page for more detail.

  • What size and number uniform on my player receive when and when will  their uniforms be distributed?

    • All Jets players MUST have a Jets uniform. The design is the same as last year, so there is no need to buy a new uniform if you have one from a previous season.

    • We will hold a fitting night to ensure proper uniform sizes. Please be advised that jerseys must fit over your athlete’s equipment.

    • Links will be sent out upon registration to purchase your uniform if you need one. Optional apparel will also be available for purchase.

    • The Team Store can also be found HERE.

    • Player jersey numbers are given on a first come-first served basis. Register early for a better chance at your desired number!

    • All purchases will be delivered to your home usually in 10 business days, but order early to ensure your uniform arrives in time for your first game.

  • What benefits do I receive from a USA Lacrosse (USAL) membership?

    • The AYL and our insurance provider require all players and coaches to be current USAL members. As a prerequisite for participation in the spring Jets lacrosse program, all players must be current USAL memberships (membership must be valid through at least May 31st, 2025)

    • USA Lacrosse provides important Safety Research, rules guidelines (youth, high school, and professional) and coaching development programs.
